A perfect bound book cover is supplied as one complete spread containing the back cover, spine, and front cover. The calculator above provides the dimensions required to create your cover PDF.
This is the finished size of the complete cover after trimming. It includes both covers and the spine, but does not include bleed.
This is the actual size your cover PDF should be. It includes the required 0.125" bleed on every side.
The spine is the area between the front and back covers. Its width is calculated from your page count and selected paper stock.
Keep important text, logos, and other critical content at least 0.25" inside the finished trim edge.
Bleed and safe margins serve different purposes and are both important when preparing your cover artwork.
